It started 40 years ago,
when Isaac began working
at Kroheler's Furniture in Naperville, IL. He came home one afternoon and decided it was time to
"learn the upholstery business". The family sofa was taken apart and put
back together with the use
of a simple staple gun, and some hand sewing.
This is when his motivation gained momentum and he began to upholstering pieces for family and
friends. The garage in Winfield, IL. would temporarily become the business workshop. Isaac's passion for the custom upholstery business drew in many opportunities, and the workload grew as well. He and is newfound business partner (wife-Sylvia) were inspired to purchased their first building in West Chicago, IL. They would now have a formal workshop and small fabric showroom.
Over the last 20 years Isaac's
Upholstery has also begun serving the Geneva, IL. area.
As the years have come and gone, Isaac and Sylvia are entering their retirement years. However, their daughter -Yvette Cortes will continue on their business legacy. She was raised in the business, and also began working for her parents right after high school. Furthermore, she continue to become innovated and bring new ideas by pursing her education at Robert Morris College, where she earned a degree in interior design. The passion her parents carried in their hearts to pursue their American dream, now runs in her heart for the last 18 years, and she's become a natural.
In 2013, Yvette Cortes had a new inspired vision and direction for the business. This would incorporate her parents workmanship, drive, and motivation. She would then add a new relevant/strategic vision of her own that would compliment the custom upholstery business. This would require the launching of her own business venture, which is now known as Flourishing Finish. It would be fresh, innovative, and current! This new opportunity would include vintage furniture rentals and event design for weddings, engagements, parties, receptions, and baptisms. Her specialization in interior design highlights her experience and expertise.
The custom upholstery business will continue on with this newfound partnership in Flourishing Finish, and continue to add value to the new services offered during this transition.
The core business values Yvette has learned from her parents has been relationship building; not just making sales. Understanding what clients/customers needs are and meeting those with high expectations is her passion.
She grateful for this God given opportunity to carry on a second generational business with integrity and respect. Knowing the value of all past, present and future clients/customers who have allowed us to service them.
As always, we will continue to serve you with the best workmanship we know best!
